FabClay. Robot impresora 3D de arcilla.

24 10 2013

FabClay is a 3D ceramic printing project launched by barcelona-based Sasha Jokic (Serbia), Starsk Lara (Colombia) and Nasim Fashami (Iran) aiming to explore a new digital fabrication system. It is a robotic additive manufacturing processes using industrial a Kuka robot and new 3D printing technology.

The research is being conducted at the Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC) in Barcelona at Digital Tectonics course.

It has started with traditional methods of building with simple and accessible materials and continuing on expanding the connections between architecture and new technology.

Many complex shapes can be made through digital design process and 3D printing technology. Material’s properties and its communication with machines helps to develop prototypes in terms of scale, form and function.
